Concrete penetration test
Whether cast-in-place, pre-cast, reinforced or unreinforced, concrete is the most-widely used construction material in the world. Many of these structures have been neglected without routine maintenance for many years, and subjected to non-climate controlled conditions. Consequently, concrete structural members have experienced significant deterioration, as shown below. Concrete spall near the base of a column exposing embedded, corroded reinforcing steel. Original design reference documents containing information about construction materials are often no longer available for these older buildings.

Penetration Resistance Test on Hardened Concrete – Purpose and Application
WINDSOR PROBE TESTING – GETTING “CONCRETE” RESULTS
Share your views or discuss. Menu twitter facebook. It is commercially known as Windsor probe test. It estimates the strength of concrete from the depth of penetration of a metal rod driven by a sudden charge of powder. When a probe having a fixed amount of energy is driven into the concrete, the depth of penetration depends on the hardness of concrete.

PENETRATION RESISTANCE TEST
This study presents a methodology for evaluating shotcrete compressive strength. Because of the high surface roughness and low thickness of the concrete layer observed in shotcrete structures, the proposed methodology is based on the probe penetration test. In a first phase, the variability of the probe penetration test was investigated to define the number of tests that are required to characterise the test correlation curve.
